How SUSS and Think Education’s Success Academy Will Change Learning in Mumbai and Beyond

The Academy is set to provide programs that incorporate diverse cultural industry experiences aimed at empowering students and executives for triumph in the international business landscape.

The Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and Think Education Advisory Services LLP (TE) inaugurated the SUSS Success Academy in Mumbai, India on 15 October 2024, establishing innovative learning modalities and practical training avenues for students in Singapore and India.

The launch was celebrated with a ceremony at the Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai, attended by more than 80 guests from both nations, including delegates from educational institutions as well as industry and community stakeholders. The event was led by Mr. Cheong Ming Foong, Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore in Mumbai, alongside Mr. Rajan Luthra who serves as the Head of Special Projects at the Chairman’s Office of Reliance Industries Ltd.

Anchored in SUSS’ dedication to lifelong education and fostering social impact, the Academy is poised to become a vital hub for academic and industry collaborators from both regions, with TE contributing its vast networks and expertise to enrich the Academy’s offerings.

Through the Academy’s two unique pathways – Personal Success and Professional Success – SUSS will provide chances for students from SUSS and other pre-tertiary and tertiary institutions in Singapore to engage collaboratively with students from India. This will incorporate participation in initiatives such as interdisciplinary global learning courses, student exchange programs, work attachments, and internships.

Key initiatives include:

Global Industry Immersion Programme (GIIP) and Industry-based Study Programme (IBSP): In collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Singapore-India Partnership Foundation (SIPF), SUSS executed its first Global Industry Immersion Programme (GIIP) last year in Pune, with a follow-up conducted this year from 29 September to 9 October. This initiative offers students opportunities to cultivate global adaptability and acquire insights into various business cultures, practices, and innovations. To enhance awareness of Digital, AI, and Sustainability technologies and their applications in India, SUSS will launch its Industry-based Study Programme (IBSP) through the Academy and Jio Institute under the Reliance Group by December 2024.

Impact Start-Up Challenge (ISC) and Venture Builder (VB): The ISC is a credit-earning course that provides students an opportunity to engage with the startup ecosystem in practical environments. The 12-week VB program allows aspiring entrepreneurs to test their business concepts in both Singapore and international markets. The Academy aims to introduce these programs by 2025.

The Academy will also facilitate SUSS in collaborating with institutions like CHRIST University, Lady Doak College, Vishwakarma University, NMIMS, Symbiosis International University, and ATLAS SkillTech University to co-create and co-implement interdisciplinary and experiential global learning and service-learning programs.

In addition to focusing on students, the Academy will utilize SUSS’ expertise in adult and workplace education to devise professional training and development solutions for industry partners, organizations, and educational institutions.

Professor Robbie Goh, the Provost of SUSS, emphasized that the collaboration with Think Education underscores SUSS’s dedication to cultivating leaders who are prepared to thrive in various cultural and societal contexts. The Success Academy in Mumbai exemplifies the strong ties between Singapore and India, generating valuable opportunities for students to connect, learn, and advance. Through global exchanges and industry collaborations, we are contributing to regional development while enhancing our students’ experiences with practical knowledge that will influence their personal and professional growth.”

Ms. Ishana Malkani, CEO, Think Education Advisory Services LLP, commented, “India is overflowing with vitality and opportunity; however, it is crucial that a top-notch education is provided to its youth to ensure their future success and capability to make a positive impact on the global workforce. The establishment of the Success Academy in India, which connects the regional hubs across Asia, aligns perfectly with India’s ‘Act East Policy,’ aimed at energizing India’s engagement towards the east. Coming from a lineage of educators and philanthropists, I feel privileged to be a part of such a remarkable initiative launched by the Singapore University of Social Sciences, which will bolster the ties between India and Singapore for generations to come.”

The inception of the Success Academy in India marks the latest progression in a series of academy openings as SUSS continues to broaden its educational presence across Asia. In the previous year, SUSS inaugurated three Academies located in Ho Chi Minh City, Beijing, and Shenzhen. In the past two months, SUSS opened four more academies in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Manila. The inauguration of the Success Academy in Mumbai raises the total count to eight regional academies.
